Fifty-two days till we arrive in Sicily! Rick Newton, the program director, explained the history of the trip and requirements and we met the class: Jenna, of Connecticut, STPC major; Sarah J., a senior from Syracuse; Manish, who was born in India and does origami; Alex, of South Hadley, who has visited Greece; Lindsay P., a philosophy major; Stephanie, a junior from Tewksbury; Jordan, a junior from Quincy; Stephanie B., a senior from Connecticut; Sahar, a senior who has done research on prisons; Maggie, of Long Island, a journalism-English major/wildlife conservation minor; Demi, a junior, who plans to teach high school; Matt, an English major from Vermont turning 21 this weekend; Sarah of Easthampton, a senior majoring in journalism and art history; Lindsey D., a sophomore who plays flute in the marching band; Katie, a senior who has studied in Barcelona; Christian, of Athol who likes to travel cross-country and TAs Rachel, a senior majoring in journalism and legal studies and Joy, a Hampshire College student who spent last semester in Ireland.
For the next class: Research and write several sentences on whether your ATM card has use restrictions in Sicily and what the charges are for withdrawing money there.
